چکیده

Type II diabetes mellitus is a common disease in the world and characterized by hyperglycemia. Prevention of reducing hyperglycemia depends on inhibition α-amylase α-glucosidase enzymes. In this study, antidiabetic profiles Paliurus spina-christi Mill. fruit were investigated. The species used as an folk medicine Turkey. inhibitory effect studies conducted to prove effect. n-hexane sub-extract methanolic extract (IC50 = 445.7 ± 8.5 µg/mL) showed greater activity against than acarbose 4212.6 130.0 µg/mL), contrast its slight/no α-amylase. phytochemical investigation P. led isolation three triterpenes, namely betulin (1a), betulinic acid (1b), lupeol (2), sterol (β-sitosterol) (3). structures compounds 1-3 further analyzed using extensive 1D- 2D-NMR, results compared with literature. Betulin (2) are reported from for first time. All isolated compounds, especially (1a) (1b) mixture 248 12 µM) higher 6561 207 µM). As extracts, also found be ineffective
